Larry went to work with my Dad today. It was so weird when he got home because he started talking to me about where they were for the job today. It immediately took me back. I used to love listening to my Dad talk about the cool places he worked at. I remember, and I'll never forget, the time I went with him to a house where there was an elevator inside the house. It's still one of the coolest things ever to me. Today they were at jewelry store and Larry was describing the rows of Rolex watches. When I think about my dad working I can smell Dunkin Donuts mixed with the smell of paint. I can see his uniform of white pants and a white shirt and of course, the white belt. I can still hear the voices from talk radio coming out of the small black radio splattered with paint. I can still feel the rough drop cloths he laid out. I have so many fond memories of going to work with my dad. I know his memories are slightly different from mine. The stories we share of our "adventures" include getting red paint in my hair, being rescued from drowning, and throwing up, to name a few. I was most definitely my Father's Captain Mayhem when he took me to work. It was nice today to listen to my husband talk about the job and it brought back fond memories.
Things are continuing to adjust here. Homeschooling is going really well. I can't wait to get our computer back so I can post some pictures I've taken and explain some more about what homeschooling looks like here. I'm adjusting to the new job. My boss asked me what my hours would be and I wrote back, 7-3. She told me that was only 8 hours and asked about a lunch break. I told her I wasn't used to bathroom and lunch breaks ;) The first two days I never went to the bathroom because I was at work and I'm just used to not going at work. I'm definitely going through some culture shock, but it's good so far and I think I'll adjust well.
The boys are continuing to be cute and mischievous and Katie is growing growing growing. She's so much more aware now of her surroundings and responds to the boys. I made chocolate chip pancakes for lunch today and I was a hero in this house. It was pretty awesome :)
I got up at 5 today so I could work for a few hours before anyone got up and now I'm exhausted. I can't wait for September 16 so I can read FB again (even though I cheated today and posted something- I miss my friends)!
