What Love Is

For the month of February I'm doing something similar to what people do the month of November. Everyday I'm asking the boys to tell me someone or something that they love. We're recording their answers on cut out hearts and they are hanging around a door frame. As Valentine's came, I couldn't help but think about how Valentine's Day is different for me now than it used to be. I used to hope for flowers and a teddy bear, chocolates or diamonds. I don't desire those things anymore because Love doesn't look like that to me anymore. The more I've learned about Christ's love for us, the more I get to see Christ's love through my husband's love for me, the more I've come to understand what love is. I think Love looks differently in different homes. It looks different to different people. I know people don't understand my life. They think I'm crazy. They can't imagine what my day looks like. But I couldn't imagine my life any other way. So, here's what Love looks like in our home.

Love is playing together.

Love is breastfeeding.

Love is celebrating when goals are accomplished.

 Love is wrestling.

 Love is snuggling.

 Love is working together.

Love is reading together.

Love is forgiving.

 Love is cosleeping.

Love is appreciating one another.

Love is baby (and toddler) wearing.

Love is being together.

Love is investing in our marriage.

Love is breaking the rules.

Love is feeling blessed when people say we have our hands full.

Love is experiencing new things together.

Love is being silly.

Love is accepting that life doesn't always go as planned, but as long as we're together, we can laugh together (ie, bad family photos ;).

Love is accepting my new body, knowing each stretch mark, and appreciating the child that gave it to me.

Love is movie night.

Love is sharing.

Love is protecting and comforting when scared.

Love is meeting our children for the first time.

Love is trusting God when we feel like Noah. Love is my husband kissing me goodbye every morning. Love is my children saying, "I love you, Mommy." Love is aching when I leave the house with my family behind. Love is missing my husband when he's gone. Love is my husband saying to me, "I love you so much. Thank you for giving me children." Love is knowing that God can take any one of us when He's ready. So while we are together, we will praise Him for the Love he has given us.
