Today is Isaac's 4th birthday! We woke up early to head out of West Palm Beach. I can't believe we were only here a few days. We stayed SO busy but this whole trip has been a lot of fun. I have to admit, it's been a lot more fun than I had anticipated- traveling with 3 kids ages 3 and under is not exactly what I would pick to do for my vacation, but it really has been a fun filled trip.
Anyway, we woke up early so we could be at John G's at 7. Here I am, eating my favorite breakfast of all time: stuffed french toast with raisin maple syrup. Sooo good!
The ladies at the restaurant sang to Isaac. It was so sweet! And the chocolate muffin was delicious!
Here we are, all set and ready to go! (By the way, I don't know WHAT I was thinking wearing a long skirt. It was HOT!)
First up: The Rocket Garden!
We went inside because things got crazy all of a sudden. Here's the rundown:
1.) Jared leaked BIG time. As in, shorts were soaked. He never leaks.
2.) We left all diapers in the car. Parenting FAIL.
3.) I tried to take his diaper off and dry it under the dryer in the bathroom (since he wears cloth).
4.) Parenting FAIL 2. It didn't work and Jared was scared to death of the blower, so he was standing there screaming, which scared Grayson and he started crying. Did you know everything echoes in the bathroom? It was bad.
5.) Larry took Jared ALL the way out to the van (we parked in section 5) to change. Meanwhile, I kept Grayson and Isaac and we stayed at the playground area until...
6.) Isaac came over to me walking funny saying he had to go to the bathroom.
7.) I didn't have my phone because I left it in the van thinking I wouldn't need it. Human Being FAIL.
8.) I grabbed Isaac's hand and we RAN to the bathrooms with Grayson on my back. He had pooped in his pants. I don't even remember the last time that happened, but about a year ago.
9.) I threw his underwear in the trash and told him he had to wear just his shorts. We proceeded to RUN back to the play area.
10.) We sat down and Larry showed up with Jared right then. Whew. (This time, Larry brought an extra diaper with him.)
While we were inside at the bathrooms the boys played with this thing- the penny stamper, whatever it is. They love these anytime we go somewhere, even though we never spend the 51 cents. They just like spinning the gears.
Having fun inside the museum.
The playground area that my kids loved.
It was time for lunch already, even though all we had really done was looked at the Rocket Garden, played on the playground, and dealt with too many bathroom emergencies. Lunch was madness. It was 12:30 and packed. Planning FAIL. We had food vouchers, which did make buying food fun since we felt like we could "splurge." OK, so, this deserves the number system again:
11.) We got our food, but there were no tables.
12.) We finally found a table, but it had no chairs. Haggle, beg, haggle, give up, and you have 1 high chair and 3 chairs. I shared my chair with Jared.
13.) The boys were drinking apple juice from a cup when all of a sudden Isaac's apple juice spilled ALL over his shorts. Nowhere else, just his shorts. But remember #9? That's right, my poor birthday boy is sans underwear.
14.) He freaked. And not just a little. We're talking standing, refusing to move, just plain screaming.
15.) I got napkins and started trying to dry him the best I could. Larry checked out and just kept eating his salad. Other people tried walking around us to get by the aisle and I wanted to trip them because my poor kid just needed some space and a second to calm down.
16.) He did finally calm down after a lot of reassurances and comfort. He decided to sit in the chair and eat his Cheetos, when this happened:
While putting a Cheeto up to his mouth he fell asleep.
It reminds me of The Office where Michael Scott is telling all of his worst birthday memories. I can just hear him telling this awful awful story.
At least Grayson was happy!
We decided after lunch would be a great time for the IMAX movie.
Love this kid!
Isaac was feeling much better after his short rest at lunch and he loved the glasses and movie. (Yes, I'm nursing Grayson in this picture. It worked out perfectly that he was ready to nurse and nap. He napped through the majority of the movie! And Florida has even more strict laws about breastfeeding than Georgia does, so there were no worries!)
This big ball of fun was very cool! (I'm really tired right now, haha)
This was really cool- it was a simulation ride that makes you feel like you are going into outer space. The boys are still too little for it, so Larry went and we went into the "observation room." The boys could see Larry on the TVs. They kept saying "Bye Daddy! Bye!" and Isaac really thought Larry went to the moon. It was fun :)
As we walked into the ride everyone had to stand in front of a green screen and they took our picture. We bought Isaac's since it was his birthday :) Our 4 year old astronaut!
The boys' Grannie Fannie Lou gave Isaac some birthday money, so we let him buy a gift at the gift shop. Here he is playing with his rocket :)And Jared playing with his :)
Space Monkey! (Isaac was not about to go near this monkey, but Jared liked him)
Walking through the area with their presents!
Isaac saw the orchestra and sat down to listen. Jared ended up joining him.
Last we went into an explorers area with video game simulations.
This was a touch screen that Jared loved. He did NOT want to leave.
We ended up staying there from 11-4:30 and after all the craziness with the diapers and the apple juice, it turned into a very fun day. When we left we headed to a hotel on Cocoa Beach for the night. We weren't originally planning to stay somewhere overnight, but we were SO glad we decided to! We were exhausted! Part 2 coming up....
