My "plan" for the summer is to put up a blog post for each day. I want to do something new and different every day this summer. It doesn't have to be big, though some days will be. There are several reasons for this. For one, this is the best time. Larry and I are both only working part-time in June and we've been super busy since February with 4 jobs between the two of us, plus that one really big job of being parents. For another, I'm not pregnant so I have the energy to do fun stuff. And three, I like going on adventures. To me, this is the best part of being a parent- being there to watch your child experience something for the first time, to see his face as he figures something out or learns something new. It's priceless. Having said that, no experience is taken for granted, so here are Larry and Isaac at the gas station. Larry is showing him what happens and how to get gas.
The view at our first stop at Red Top State Park.
The boys were given cameras at Christmas so I had them take their own cameras to take pictures. Looks like they have a little bit of mommy in them afterall ;)Next it was time to go on a trail.
I love this because it's so us. I had to stop walking to allow Jared to get in front of me to take this picture. I'm pretty sure Isaac would have run straight through the trail. Jared kept stopping to look around and he just walks slowly in general. I love it!
Isaac taking a picture of the sign... I have no idea why he would think that was important ;)
Love.
Larry showing Isaac how tall the tree is.
The boys finding baby frogs. There were SO many baby frogs! It was cute at first, and I picked one up, but as we continued walking it was horrible. I don't want to think about how many baby frogs died under the Summerlin feet, but I'm sure it was considered a massacre among the frogs. We tried so hard to be careful, but they were everywhere!
Big scary worm thing. Isaac told me to pick that up and I said NO!
Larry purposely picked a trail that ran along the water. It was beautiful!
Larry showed Isaac the roots of the tree.
He loved climbing the rocks.
There were several boats out. We stayed at this spot for awhile because all the boys liked watching the boats go by.
So happy :)
More love.
And of course, I realized that Grayson and I weren't in any pictures, so we got one right before we left :)
While I was walking with Isaac we had two great conversations. The first was this:
Me: Are you having fun, buddy?
Isaac: No. This is a terrible park because all of the trees are down. Ten trees are all fallen down. We need to go to a better park.
I love how he can always surprise me. And he was right, a bunch of trees were down for various reasons. We ended up talking a lot about that since, clearly, that bothered him!
And the last conversation we had was while we were walking out. We were trekking uphill and I was holding Isaac's hand.
Isaac: Are you helping me, Mommy?
Me: Yes, buddy, Mommy is helping you. Mommy is helping you because she loves you and she will always be here to help you.
Isaac: I love you, too, Mommy.
I'm one blessed Mama!
