The Summerlin Family: Chilled Out Jared

People often ask me how different the boys are. They are VERY different! Isaac always had a very strong personality. He was never crazy about new places or new people. He always wanted to be down if you were holding him. Jared is the total opposite. He is very chilled out. He doesn't (typically) care if someone else is holding him or if he is in a new place. He would much rather you hold him than put him down. Somehow he knows if you step out of the room and yells until you return and pick him up. Isaac loved the Jumperoo. Jared... not so much. He pretty much yells while he's in it and jumps out of anger, not joy.

He also hates sleep.

Not really, but he is even more stubborn than Isaac ever was about sleeping through the night. I always rely on the 3 in a row rule because it always worked for Isaac. Jared has yet to sleep through the night 3 nights in a row. He will go 2 nights in a row, but he always wakes up the third night. It's crazy.

He's started going through separation anxiety, but even that is different than it was with Isaac! Isaac had separation anxiety bad and as soon as Larry or I handed him to someone else he cried. But he always got over it. Not Jared. At church last week I handed Jared over without a problem. One of the workers told me that he had cried the whole time last week, which was not like him at all. Twenty minutes into the service my number came up and I had to go get Jared. My poor guy was just yelling. As soon as I took him he stopped. We played in the lobby the rest of the service. I've never been called to get Isaac.

Jared knows how to get what he wants. That pretty much sums him up. He's very unassuming, but he's more clever than he looks!
