Easter Egg Scramble

Last Saturday we took the boys to their first Easter Egg Scramble. It was held at a local park. They separate areas out according to age and lay a bunch of candy and plastic eggs out in the grass for the little ones to pick up. When we got there we had both boys in the stroller to contain Isaac. After a few minutes he wanted to walk around, but when he did he saw the park and all he wanted to do was play. When it was time to start the "hunt" I took Isaac out to the grass and showed him what to do. He picked up a few eggs and put them in his basket, then decided he wanted to go run into the 4 and 5 year old area. When I wouldn't let him he sat down and cried. We got to the egg scramble at 9:20 and it started at 10. By 10:15 Isaac was happily playing on the playground equipment.

It went exactly as I had anticipated.

Here are some pictures of our family outing :)

This next picture happened while we were still waiting for the egg scramble to actually begin. This is when Larry and I looked at each other and said, "Uh oh."

Picking up candy. See all the feet around us? It was packed!
And he was done.
I have to say, though, people there were incredibly kind. Two women came over to us with extra baskets of eggs and gave Isaac some eggs. They both had brought extra baskets for kids like Isaac who didn't get much. Very sweet!
Yes, both of my beautiful children are crying, Larry is snapping pictures and I am laughing. I mean, really, what else could we do in that situation? We had gotten everyone up, fed, dressed and out the door to stand in 40 degree windy weather for 45 minutes so Isaac could pick up 3 eggs then plop down and cry. It was hilarious.

Happily climbing
Going down the slide

He played for a good hour on the playground and had a great nap that afternoon!

Jared cried most of the time that Isaac was playing. He fell asleep when we were walking to the car.

I can't wait for next year to try it again :)
