First Doctor's Appointment

We had our first doctor's appointment for Jared the Monday after he was born. Here he is all ready to go.
Isaac had a good time playing in the waiting room. Of course, we were at the office for 2 hours, so he was not so happy by the time we finally left!
We were there for so long because of Jared's jaundice. Isaac had jaundice, too. With Isaac, we just had to lay him by a window to make the levels go down, but then we were fine. Jared's jaundice levels were pretty high, though. At the hospital we left with a level of 8.6, and at his appointment it was up to 19. A level of 20 causes concern. So the pediatrician had a bed sent to our home and we had to leave Jared in it at all times, except when he was eating. The next day his levels had gone down enough so he did not have to be on the bed anymore. We still had to go back again the following day to have him checked. Again, he was showing improvement. Here is a picture of him laying on his bed. He looked like a little glow worm, but he was not amused by it at all! He slept fitfully, so we were very relieved that he did not have to be on the bed for long.

Here are his stats from his first appointment:

11/9/09

Height: 18 1/2 (8%)
Weight: 6.3 (8%)
Head circumference: 13 1/4 (11%)

We have until his 2 week check-up to get his weight back up to 6 lbs, 11 oz, which was his birth weight. (**Note: he reached that on 11/16, whoohoo!**)
