Getting dressed: Once you put the shirt over his head, he will slide his arms through the sleeves. It sounds simple, but to us it's a miracle!
Kisses: He will give you open-mouthed kisses now. I always ask for a kiss when I am holding him. Sometimes he smiles and opens his mouth as wide as he can and I turn my cheek to him. Other times, he shakes his head no. Everything has to be on HIS terms!
A little pushy: If you are blocking his view, he will push you with his arms. It's so cute because he's so little that he obviously is not going to push you out of the way. But he makes his point clear! Also, if I am holding him and talking to Larry, he will turn my face toward him and give me this look like, "Don't talk to him, Mommy. I'm here."
Walking: In the past couple of days he has pretty much stopped crawling altogether. All of a sudden he can stand up without any help and loves his new mobility! I feel like now that he has the freedom to move the way he wants, he is more loving. He will snuggle with us now and wants to be held more. He doesn't fight us like he used to.
Stairs: As of today, we need a baby gate! He can crawl all the way up the stairs now and is so proud of himself!
Weaning: The weaning process has begun. The other night he just wanted to suck on his blankie, not take the bottle. The next night I put his formula in a sippy cup and he outright refused it. So no more nighttime bottle, whoohoo! We give him the formula he should have at night with his breakfast in a sippy cup now. We're going to start mixing formula with milk and in a week, we'll cut out another bottle. By his first birthday he'll be done with bottles and when the 2 cans of formula we have left are gone, then no more formula! Whoohoo!
Waving: He is getting better at waving now. He started about a month ago, but he only waved bye-bye once the person was completely gone. The other day he and Larry were at the store and he started waving at a woman and smiling at her. Already a flirt!
Talking: He loves to talk, but we have no idea what he is saying :) Sometimes he is serious and babbles in a constant stream, sometimes he talks and laughs, and other times he just yells. He has started calling Larry "Da-da" and "Daddy." I heard my first Mama the other day when I got him up from his nap and he gave me a kiss and called me Ma again. Melted my heart!
Chase: He loves to play chase! If one of us hides in the other room and calls out, "Where's Isaac?" He will laugh and walk as fast as can toward our voice. Such a fun game! Also, he will pull his blankie up over his head and we say, "Where's Isaac? Where'd he go?" He will laugh and pull the blanket down and we say, "There he is!" He will pull the blanket back up over his face to play over and over again. So much fun!
We are having such a great time with him! I know this was a lot to read, but I want to be able to look back and remember when he accomplished everything. The next post will be full of pictures :)
