**We did a post like this for Isaac's first birthday, which you can find here. It's just fun to see how they both grew their first year :)**
Can you believe that a year has gone by? From the moment I saw Isaac I knew I wanted more children. God blessed us quickly and 16 months later we welcomed Jared. The first couple of days, weeks and months were very hard, I won't lie. Having a second when we still had a baby at home was a lot to handle. Jared surprised us 3 weeks early after I had been in a lot of pain and although the delivery was very easy, the stay at the hospital was not. He worried us a lot those first few hours with his blood sugar and low temperature. The next few weeks continued to be rough as he fought jaundice. I knew then that he would always be our Surprise Baby. If something was going to happen that we didn't expect, it would come from Jared. We were surprised by how quickly I got pregnant, surprised by the early and very easy delivery, surprised by his weight, etc, etc etc. And this past year has been no different! He's the first child/person that I've known to swallow a hearing aid battery. (It still makes me sigh.)
If I had to sum up Jared in one word, and I didn't use the word Surprise, I would have to say Love. He embodies it and when people see him, they want to hug him and love him. He loves his family and his brother. He loves his Papa the most, though :)
When we had to decide on his birthday party it was very easy to make the decision of a family party at home. He's a family kinda baby. He wants to be held and to talk to you. He loves to give (snotty) kisses and hugs. He might not smile or laugh a whole lot, but when something is really funny, and I do mean really funny, he will crack up and it lights your world.
