It's hard to believe, but we are officially entering the second trimester. The picture shows me at 14 weeks. According to what we've read, it will soon be obvious that I'm pregnant, so we'll be taking weekly pictures now. We wanted to give a recap of the first trimester.
Morning Sickness:
I've been more fortunate than most women in that I have had very little morning sickness. Every now and then I feel sick to my stomach, but I found out that a sip of Coke settles my stomach. In fact, Coke has never tasted better to me, now that I can't drink it anymore. The little sips here and there are wonderful treats, though!
Cravings:
I don't really crave weird things, but I always know what I want to eat (and I want to eat ALL the time). Larry will tell you the weirdest thing I've eaten is pears with chedder cheese (which is delicious by the way). At the beginning I wanted pasta, which the doctor said is probably why I wasn't sick much, but it also contributed to my gaining more weight than I was supposed to right away. Once the pasta intake slowed down, so did the weight gain. I definitely want fruit, vegetables and fish like salmon and shrimp more than ever. Thankfully, Larry is understanding and even though he thinks I'm crazy, he never keeps me from eating what I want (which is probably safe!)
Mood Swings:
At first, I thought I would be the first ever pregnant woman to not have mood swings. (Ha, Ha!) They didn't really start hitting until the end of the first trimester, so Larry did have a short break. The good thing is, I know when a mood swing is coming on, so I can usually get away so I'm alone or at least warn Larry in some fashion. Other times... well, Larry understands that I'm pregnant and therefore crazy :) The weirdest thing that has happened is my laughing fits. It's only happened a few times, and the first time was the worst. Something small will make me giggle, then laugh, then laugh so hard tears start rolling, and then the laughter stops and sobbing takes over. It is so bizarre!!
Over the Christmas break, I told Larry I love being pregnant. He asked me if it was because I pee all the time, or if it's because I eat all the time, or because I burp all the time, or maybe was it because I'm moody all the time? I told him never mind, being pregnant is NOT fun! But in reality, all those things aren't really a big deal. Larry is amazing and every week we learn about what's happening with me and what's happening with the baby. Did the you know the baby is 3 1/2 inches long now? S/he has muscles and bones and skin. The arms and legs and fingers (including fingerprints!) are all there. In fact, the baby is already moving and kicking, but I can't feel it yet. So even though all those things Larry listed aren't that fun, the fact that we created this little baby that is growing so fast is really quite amazing. I am so fortunate to have Larry as my husband and I know he is going to be a great dad to our little girl! (How much you want to bet Larry won't let me type the blog alone anymore? Hee, hee!)

I love it! By the way, I think your baby is a girl, too. However, Grandpa is looking forward to the new baby BOY! We love you!

Awesome post. Keep the pics and updates coming.
Oh....I love the little pudge!! That's my grandbaby!
Re the cravings....mine with Larry was watermelon - which is why he won't eat it I guess. I ate a whole watermelon one night. Craig told me to stop after I ate half of it, so I waited until he went to bed and ate the other half!
Thanks for the blog - It makes me feel so much closer.
Love you - all three of you!
